Reaching out to you, oh Lord!
It was first of January
I was let out recently
Out of an abusive relationship
She decided to text me out of the blue
Just like I did, when it was her birthday
It came with no surprise that it was over
before it even began
I didn’t realize how little I thought about myself
that I thought that I might just let myself swing from the fan
Anyways we were texting and it was
ten maybe 15 minutes to midnight
and I was going to church to say a prayer about new years day
there were so many people on the road
and it was like an annual gathering taking place
Everyone in a crowd waiting for the new years day to begin
so that they can celebrate with completely unknown people
Unknown but like minded probably, I assumed.
I somehow reached the gate of the church
crawling through the crowd and sound of firecrackers
I wanted to pray about my family and
that I got a gift in disguise of a new day, another year
The church was closed due to the trend that was taking over in the city
Trend to crawl together to the church for saying a prayer.
I went to another church
prayed, and headed off to meet my colleague from work
Had some tea and cigarettes
gave some kid a twenty rupee note.
I had to do some good on the new years day, I suppose!
I drove back home and went to sleep
Hoping that it all gets better for me and my family.
That was one day, which was a good day for me.
